The wait is finally over, dumpling specialists Din Tai Fung have arrived in London.
London has been home to a number of excellent new Asian restaurants in London, from Brigadiers to Kym’s in 2018 and now the highly anticipated opening of Din Tai Fung is the ideal way to sign off the year.
For those who haven’t heard of Din Tai Fung, they are 60 year old Taiwanese dumpling specialists and are the largest dumpling restaurant chain in the world with over 150+ sites. Their London site is their first in Europe with enough seats for up to 250 people across two floors in none other than, Covent Garden.
Din Tai Fung officially opened on 5th December to hour long queues with people ready to try their signature Xiao Long Bao (dumplings), steamed chicken soup, fried rice dishes and a cocktail bar serving Taiwanese cocktails to a range of Chinese teas including, bubble tea. These dumplings take 40 minutes of preparation and are folded eighteen (18!) times so proves that the best things in life are worth the wait.
Din Tai Fung is very reasonably priced and with a no reservations policy, expect to find long queues (some reported to be up to four to five hours long) for their sought after dumplings. To make things even better and help with the demand, their second branch in London will be opening at Centre Point by Tottenham Court Road in early 2019. Therefore, expect to see plenty of dumplings on Instagram over the coming months!
