5 New Openings in October 2019

Five of the best new openings in London from October 2019.

Oren, Dalston

Rating – 4.8/5
Price – ££

Now this is my ideal kind of menu for a Thursday night meal out with friends after work. But this is a place to go for weekend brunch as well for those who love Mediterranean small plates. Oded Oren has opened their first place in London and has chosen Dalston which is the ever growing foodie scene. The menu is a mixed of Mediterranean and Middle Eastern influence with dishes such as Ox Cheek and Hummus, grilled lamb sweetbreads, baked cabbage with tahini and make sure to save room for the chocolate mousse.

Trivet, London Bridge

Rating – 4.6/5
Price – £££

What can you expect when an Ex Fat Duck chef opens their own restaurant? Excellent food, that’s what which is exactly what you get at Trivet which has opened up at London Bridge. My golden rule for whether you can expect quality food from a restaurant’s kitchen is whether their menu can fit on one page which Trivet absolutely complies with. Expect uncommon ingredients cooked in a modern style such as salt-steamed turbot with cocos beans and roast pigeon with chervil root. A restaurant which will be more expensive than others around London Bridge but one which I’m sure won’t disappoint.

Plu, St John’s Wood

Rating – 4.9/5
Price – ££££

The king cuisine of the kitchen to some, a new restaurant in London offering modern French cooking cannot be a bad thing for the capital. Plu may be minimal in size only seating 22 people and offering just one tasting menu, but goes maximum on quality and taste. The ten course tasting menu is set at £125 per person over a near 4 hour seating so this is one for a weekend treat dinner than a quick bite on a Wednesday after work however this isn’t one to miss for those French food fanatics in London.

Kolamba, Soho

Rating – 4.4/5
Price – ££

For someone who absolutely loves Sri Lankan food, when another restaurant comes to London specialising in Sri Lankan cuisine, Kolamba coming to Soho is excellent news. Offering a home cooking style packed with plenty of spice and flavour, make sure you look out for their yellow monkfish curry, classic Sri Lankan hoppers and their jackfruit curry.

Naifs, Peckham

Rating – 4.9/5
Price – ££

The ever-growing foodie scene which is Peckham has opened its newest restaurant for the ever-growing vegan market in London. The quality and number of vegan restaurants has dramatically increased in the last few years which has led to Naifs opening. A simple menu which focuses on sharing plates is an ideal venue for meeting after work with a glass of wine and good food. Their mushroom broth with semolina dumplings and almond and barley ice cream sandwich are the ones to look out for.
