5 New Openings from May 2019

Five of the best new places to have opened last month during May in London that need to be added to the list to be tried this month.

Yeo Valley Cafe, Queensway

Opened – 14th May 2019
Rating – 4.9/5
Price – ££

You’ll recognise the name, but maybe not the café part? Yeo Valley, traditionally known in the yoghurt and dairy aisles of our supermarkets, have opened their first café in London just by Queensway station. Offering both a breakfast and lunch menu, as expected from the dairy specialists, you’ll find everything is fresh to taste including their whole milk porridge, to veggie kedgeree to selection of fresh salads. The setting and interior décor is great as well, ideal for those looking to stop off between meetings for a coffee and a mid-morning snack. One to check out for those on the Central line.

CHIK’N Soho, Soho

Opened – May 2019
Rating – 4.1/5
Price – £

You can never have enough good, quality fried chicken shops and luckily we’ve got one more in Soho as CHIK’N have opened their second site in London last month. I stopped in here last weekend to try and was impressed with how tasty both the flavours and how juicy the chicken was. Also, watch out for their K-Fries with added spice of Korean hot sauce to accompany some tasty fried chicken. More for a quick bite than a sit down meal but worth the stop when next strolling through Soho.

FishWorks, Covent Garden

Opened – May 2019
Rating – 4.6/5
Price – ££

Summer’s coming and nothing says summer food like seafood and a glass of wine to pair. Luckily, FishWorks have opened another London branch, this time in the foodie hotspot that is Covent Garden. Serving a complete range of fresh seafood dishes from king scallops to start to seafood bouillabaisse for mains, it’s their signature oysters you want to make sure you don’t miss on the menu. However, it’s their Sunday deal worth taking note on – three courses and bottomless prosecco or wine for £38.50 per person. I can’t think of worse places to be on a Sunday this summer in London!

Baba G’s, Camden

Opened – May 2019
Rating – 4.6/5
Price – ££

I couldn’t be happier to hear that these guys have got their first permanent base in London. I tried Baba G’s street food Indian inspired burgers at Vinegar Yard earlier this year and loved them so will definitely need to head to Camden soon to try their full menu. Oh, and watch out for their chicken tikka nuggets which aren’t to be missed!

Humble Pizza, Chelsea

Opened – May 2019
Rating – 4.9/5
Price – ££

There have been a few ‘healthier’ pizza alternative new restaurants openings which I’ve covered in the last year but maybe none have hit London with such praise such as Humble Pizza has in Chelsea. Strictly vegan and vegetarian pizzas along with fresh salad options on the menu as well, expect bold flavours on cauliflowers bases and pink walls (you’ll know what I mean when you get there)! Looking for something dfferent as a pizza option? Then head over to Humble Pizza for a slice of the action.
