New year, new openings. 5 new places across London to have opened in January including a couple from 2018 that I had to include!

Rating – TBC
Opened – 28th January 2019
Fresh to London in 2019 is Yeni which has been brought to London by one of Turkey’s top chefs Civan Er. Yeni will offer a flavour of Istanbul with British ingredients in what is likely to be one tasty menu. The menu is likely to include their famous ribs with isot pepper or lamb shank with taramind. This is Civan Er’s first restaurant in London and is a two-storey venue that will focus on small sharer plates and a cocktail menu to match – watch out for those with raki in!
Monga Fried Chicken, Leicester Square
Rating – TBC
Opened – 27th January 2019
There’s plenty of fried chicken places in London but recent years have seen a greater influx of Eastern inspired fried chicken come to London after notably Jollibee opening up last year. Monga is a Taiwanese fried chicken chain which opened in London in January and was their first opening in Europe. Their ‘street-food’ fried chicken is dipped in honey before frying so has a sweet and crispy taste to it with fries on the side. A new one to try for fried chicken lovers in London!

Opened – October 2018
This is a place I’ve missed out adding to earlier articles but couldn’t leave out anymore. If you’re after really tasty pizza, pasta and a glass of wine to match, then Cecconi’s is the place to go to. Offering both a tapas style and main menu alongside their breakfast and brunch, Cecconi’s focus is on high-quality Italian focused food which is perfect for sharing including pasta bowls ideal for 2-4 people to share. This is a great option for anyone looking for somewhere for a mid-week catch up with friends and good food.
Redemption Bar, Covent Garden
Rating – 4.8/5
Opened – Late December 2018
It’s a New Year and looking for somewhere healthy to eat? Then Redemption Bar’s latest opening in Covent Garden could be the one to go for, probably because it’s been named as one of the world’s healthiest restaurants. This is their third opening in London and the menu will follow the same of their other venues with fresh, colourful vegan food (including their signature Buddha Bowl) and non-alcoholic cocktails. Mid-range costing and offering both brunch and all-day menus, one to try out when next in Central.

From Sweden, to Scotland to Soho. Soderberg is a Swedish café who have for just over a decade been based in Edinburgh but have now crossed the border and come to London to offer a selection of tasty brunch, lunch and dinner options in their Scandinavian inspired café. Famed for their open sandwiches (Smörrebröd) which uses their special sourdough bread, this will surely be a hit in Soho. Get in quick before the queues no doubt start forming for this place in the mornings.
