New month, five new places to go and try from Fried Chicken to Indian BBQ!

A real mixture this month including some that have already opened and dates to keep in the diary for June when restaurants open their doors to London. Personally looking forward to Brigadiers and Ruya as heard really good things for their opening this month but message with any new places you go this month at @londonfoodie1 on Instagram!

Brigadiers, Canon Street
Rating – 5.0

Opening – 6th June 2018

Indian? BBQ? Together? Yes please. Situated between Bank and Canon Street, this new restaurant is brought to you by the owners of (personally) my favourite Indian restaurant in London, Gymkhana. With charcoal grills and clay ovens at the ready, there is a real buzz ahead of their opening after hearing about this one at the start of the year. This is not just a standard restaurant though with a number of different rooms offering other social aspects including a whisky bar, pool table room with live sports which feels like a real throwback London venue but with a tasty anticipated modern Asian restaurant to go with it. Brigadiers opens on the 6th June so keep this one in mind.

Mother Clucker, Farringdon
Rating – 4.0

Opened – 18th May 2018

In a previous article I mentioned Mother Clucker at Flat Iron Square as being my favourite fried chicken in London and thankfully they have now opened their first permanent restaurant in London. Based in Exmouth Market, Mother Clucker will be serving up their award winning (not sure if it has won awards but it should) chicken strips, cajun fries and a cocktail list to go with it. It’s been long overdue for a permanent spot for Mother Clucker and I’m very glad it’s finally here.

Brat, Shoreditch
Rating – 4.7

Opened – 17th March 2018

Ok this one has been opened a while now but I’ve somehow missed it from my previous articles. From lead chef Tomos Parry, his Welsh roots are seen within the menu offering lamb, duck, seafood and beef chop. This grill restaurant also offers an extensive wine list to go with their seasonal menu made up of both first and second course options. Brat is mid-range for pricing and also has walk in’s available so if you’re next in Shoreditch and needing somewhere to go, head to Brat.

Akira – Japan House, Kensington

Opens – 22nd June 2018

There can never be enough Japanese restaurants in London and I’m glad to hear of Akira which is opening in Japan House by High Street Kensington station. Akira is now taking bookings and you can expect a more high-end Japanese experience over a charcoal grill. Offering both a sushi and hot food menu with Japanese authentic cocktails to go with them.

Ruya, Mayfair
Soft Opening – 30th May 2018

Opens – 7th June 2018

With a menu straight from Dubai and a chef for that matter, Ruya opens in Mayfair with an Anatolian cuisine – the best of Turkey and Asia. This is Ruya’s second branch and the first time an original UAE branch has opened in London with a highly anticipated menu to suit. The menu is yet to be released but if it’s anything like their Dubai menu, London and more specifically Mayfair, is certainly in for a treat.

If you go to any of these five, let me know what you think at @londonfoodie1!
