ULI London,

This is my review after visiting ULI in West London which served a delicious array of Eastern & Asian inspired dishes.

I recently went to try ULI’s restaurant in Notting Hill and if you like fresh dishes with inspiration and flavours from Chinese, Thai, Malay and Singaporean influences, then this could be the next restaurant for you to go and visit.

Just a few minutes walk from Notting Hill tube station, ULI feels as if you are further away in a more secluded area than the hustle and bustle of people, cars and noise in just round the corner from here. This is partly due to the serene outdoor terrace which is the ideal setting for a summer evening’s dinner to enjoy great food with friends as the sun sets to the right of the restaurant.

The mix of cuisines on the menu are my favourite so I was really looking forward to trying the food. I started off by ordering some small plates to begin with. As customary with Eastern restaurants, we had some spicy prawn crackers which were served with a tasty sweet chilli sauce. These were followed by some delicious prawn dumplings which were great value for £7, fresh and vibrant Vietnamese prawn summer rolls and five spice pork ribs. I couldn’t fault any of these and couldn’t recommend getting the dumplings anymore.

Onto the mains and chose the Thai green curry with chicken and the black cod with a side of miso aubergine. The Thai green curry was probably one of the best I’ve had in London – the chicken was cooked perfectly but the sauce and vegetables cooked within in were excellent. I would go back just for this dish again and couldn’t rate highly enough! The black cod fell apart in a tasty teriyaki marinade and the baby thai aubergine was probably as good as you’ll find in London.

Overall, I would definitely recommend trying out ULI when next in West London. The food was excellent, service was great and excellent atmosphere sitting outside as the sun set with a glass of wine and delicious food to enjoy.
