High-end Indian Dining – Kahani, Mayfair

I recently went to Kahani in Mayfair for their Indian fine dining which absolutely delivered on quality, flavour and experience.

There has been a growth in London of high-quality Asian and in particular Indian food in recent years with the likes of Brigadiers, Gunpowder and Gymkhana arriving to great acclaim. Mayfair has it’s very own to add to that list with Kahani which delivers a modern twist on authentic Indian dining with excellent results. For those that haven’t been, you may also have heard of Kahani which was recently featured on Celebrity Masterchef which highlighted the tasty food and excellent décor inside the restaurant.

I recently visited and was lucky to try the menu and was very impressed by what was on offer. Before you sit down to eat, their cocktails are a must to try by their bar which are definitely not to miss and ideal for a picture shot.

However, it’s all about the food and there’s plenty of choice for those who are lovers of spice and flavour. I started with the soft-shell crab which was lightly deep fried and still had a great taste of crab topped with a Kachumber (Indian spiced salad that was delicious) and a smoky tomato chutney that paired perfectly with the crab. An ideal starter for those who love their seafood.

Moving on, I never in my life thought I would say that my favourite dish of the night would be a broccoli dish but this was something else. Renowned as one of their signature dishes, the broccoli is cooked over hot coals to lightly char and served on top of a creamy tandoori sauce which is unbelievably good. This dish will turn even the most ardent of non-broccoli lovers to a convert.

The meal got better after trying their Indian Lamb chops with mint yogurt that were cooked perfectly and their spiced lamb biryani with chilli sauce and yogurt for mains. Overall, the food and service was excellent which I would definitely recommend Kahani for those looking for a high-end Indian dining experience in London.
