Brother Marcus, Spitalfields

I recently went to Brother Marcus latest opening at Spitalfields Markets to try their East-Mediterranean dinner menu.

If you ever put into Google, where should you go for brunch, Brother Marcus is always one of those which will top the list after growing the reputation in Balham for their excellent weekend brunch classics and those with a Mediterranean twist. Fortunately in recent years Brother Marcus has expanded their food offering to full day menu and their dinner menu is one of my favourites in London with delicious East-Med sharing plates ideal for a mid-week outing.

I recently went to their latest site at Spitalfields Market which opened earlier this year and was instantly impressed with their décor style in new opening.

We’re open! 🎉🎉 Come to Spitalfields and meet the biggest Brother yet, with a wood-fired oven to cook up Turkish pide, and freshly-squeezed juices, coffee and Eastern Med-inspired pastries to go. We’re really excited to introduce you to our new sharing plates – think Kefrotyri cheese with pickled mushroom duxelle, toasted seeds, and pine honey; salt roasted beetroot, orange labneh and sesame tuille; and chargrilled pork tomahawk, glazed shallots, chestnut agresto and watercress. And, of course, we’ll be dishing up our legendary brunch too! See you at Spitalfields 🍾🍾 •⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ •⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ •⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ #eaterlondon #infatuationlondon #buzzfeedfood #eastmediterranean #nowopen #justopenedlondon #spitalfields #newrestaurantopening #newopenings #eastlondon #food #foodlover #foodlovers #foodie #foodies #london #londonfood #londonfoodie #instafood #foodgram #foodstagram #foodporn #foodgasm #londoncafes #londongram #gourmet #cocktails #dinner

Their menu is split between land, sea and meat dishes with vegan and gluten free options also so there is something for everyone here. One of their signature vegetarian dishes is their Burnt Aubergine with tahini, fermented mango and a 62 degree egg yolk waiting to be burst on top. This dish is a must order, 100%!

Another must order dish is their fried chicken and grated Graviera cheese dish. Yes, fried chicken and cheese – what’s not to love? This is an absolute crowd please and one I would definitely recommend getting but be ready to get in quick if you are sharing with others! The chicken is cooked really nicely but their muhammara sauce underneath is the winner for me which is an instant winner.

One of their other dishes I tried which was a favourite as well was their Pork Belly with a Metaxa and Date Glaze on top off an apple labhneh (yogurt like sauce) that was really tasty. I’ve been a couple of times to Brother Marcus now and impressed each time I go and couldn’t recommend more if you’re going for a Saturday morning brunch or a mid-week catch up dinner with friends after work.

Meet our succulent pork belly with metaxa and date glaze, apple labneh and walnuts. A traditional Greek liquor, Metaxa has a sweetness that makes it the perfect choice for this pork dish! 📸 @londonfoodie1 📸 •⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ •⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ •⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ •⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ #eaterlondon #infatuationlondon #buzzfeedfood #dinnerinlondon #londonlunch #eastmediterranean #fuelyourbodyright #citylife #londonfoodie #whatsonmyplate #toplondonrestaurants #eattheworld #topcitybites #flavourexplosion #detoxme #dinnerfeels #citybrunch #porkbelly #metaxaanddates #greekliquor #februaryvibes
