Galvin at Windows: Michelin star dining with a view.

Fine dining is about so much more than the food, and situated on the 28th floor, this restaurant offers a view to remember.

Set at the top of the Hilton Park Lane, the panoramic view of London’s skyline is the decorative centerpiece of this sophisticated dining space. This autumn’s seasonal brunch menu takes the best flavours nature has to offer, and transforms them into a carefully curated dining experience.

The brunch menu is exactly as enticing as expected, a delicious crossover between decadent breakfast and leisurely lunch. Refresh yourself with one of their wonderfully flavoursome smoothies: less thick than I’ve often had, and a little more like pressed iced juices. Begin your meal with a plate from their ‘Raw and Cured’ selection, a personal favourite being the meltingly soft Iberico chorizo and crumbly, salty Manchego, served with a sweet and unctuous chilli jam.

The mains we tried were the very worthy and seasonal ‘Joo’s super breakfast’, and the classic eggs Benedict. Based on the breakfast favoured by the head Chef Joo Won himself, Joo’s breakfast features polenta, maple cured bacon and soft poached eggs, alongside the most delicious stir-fried chilli oyster mushrooms and wilted spinach. For the eggs Benedict, incredibly rich and creamy Burford Brown eggs sit atop the most perfectly toasted muffin I’ve ever enjoyed (even I didn’t realise I had opinions on muffin-toasting!), balanced with a deeply savoury, vinegary sauce.

To finish we had the Coupe Strawberry (a take on the classic Eton mess with an excellently refreshing strawberry sorbet), and the Paris Brest. Oh the Paris Brest. Cooked as a huge pastry wreath and served in individual portions, it’s wheeled over on its own dessert trolley to be luxuriantly sliced and served in front of you. It is presented with a chocolate sauce which I was initially unexcited by, as I much prefer the pastry on its own. However it was the perfect touch- rather than the sugary syrup I’ve come to expect from most restaurants, it was a dark, bitter, soulfully chocolaty sauce that balanced the dish expertly, and made a lovely end to the meal.

With a menu beautiful enough to rival the skyline it’s set against, Galvin at Windows is definitely a brunch spot with a delicious difference.
