5 Funky Filled Croissants You Can Find in London

You can’t beat a classic croissant: but for when you’re feeling a little more adventurous, these five places have got you covered!

1. The maple bacon croissant from Pophams bakery
Pophams bakery is the new(ish) kid on the block, who have been making waves with their exceptional patisserie. The maple bacon croissant was a hit as soon as it arrived on the scene, and with good reason. Salty bacon curled into flaky, maple-y pastry; it’s a guaranteed winner! Great as a snacky brunch, or for those who can’t choose between sweet or savoury.

2. The caramelised peanut and coconut croissant from Sans Pere
This chic collection of cafes are a lovely place to take a breather after a busy day, and their pastries definitely live up to the hype. The caramelised peanut and coconut is wonderfully sweet and mellow, with a gentle smoky edge from the peanuts. Perfect with a strong cappuccino, or to take away and savour in one of the nearby parks.

3. The Strawberry coconut croissant from Rex bakery
Rex bakery are a delightful independent bake shop in north London, and their latest summer offering is just sublime. A luscious combination of fragrant fresh strawberries, smooth custard and coconut, this is summer in a pastry.

4. The kimchi croissant from Kape & Pan
These guys are experts at combining Filipino and south Asian flavours with European bakes- pick up a guava blondie or a cassava cake to go with your Thai single origin coffee. Their kimchi croissant is the ultimate in deep, savoury umami flavours, and I was head over heels after my first bite! Plus, kimchi is REALLY good for you, so this croissant is basically a health food…

5. The berry and violet croissant from Hotel Cafe Royal
Ok so this last one is a little bit of a cheeky add, as head baker Romain Tessier changes their filled croissant flavour every month- but I can guarantee you that whatever they have in, it’ll always be sensational! This is a sweet floral dream of a pastry, filled to bursting with luscious berry cream, and topped with a sweet glaze and violet chocolate shards. My mouth is watering just writing about it.

As the patisserie world is an ever-evolving one, I’m sure there will be more adventurious pastry offerings in the future. Exciting times await!
